Since 2021, the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute of the Council of Agriculture (reorganized as the Ministry of Agriculture in August 2023) has implemented a public art program in conjunction with the construction of new greenhouse clusters at the Taipei Botanical Garden. The initiative aims to further enhance the collection, preservation, and educational promotion of Taiwan’s rare native plants through public art. The technology-based artwork “Meta Garden” allows visitors to scan a QR code on interpretive signage, download an app, and view 7 virtual plants through augmented reality. Even during the pandemic, this enabled the public to stay connected with the botanical garden without physical barriers.
